My Thoughts, Experience and Opinion on Jojo Quimpo’s Actions

FRANCISCO “JOJO” QUIMPO – For those of you who don’t know Francisco “Jojo” Quimpo, he is best known as the chairman of the Hirit Team, founding member of Pinoy Fiesta. I’ve been told he is the founder of Pinoy Rock Entertainment (PRE) and Hirit Production. As shown on his facebook he works as a paralegal at Davis LLP, a legal company. Jojo Quimpo is also one of 60,000 DIAMOND JUBILEE recipients across Canada and is now the Executive Producer of Pinoy Buzz with host Janice Lozano.

I want to make it clear that we initially had no issues with Francisco “Jojo” Quimpo.

We were the first to feature him on our tv show promoting the events he was doing in the community.

* Luisa publicly and openly adored Jojo by saying that he is one of her favourite people in the community.

* We supported all of his events including his Ati-Atihan events.

* We supported, promoted and participated in the first Pinoy Fiesta parade 2010 and featured all highlights including his interview on our tv show.

* Our tv show was the first to support and feature Jojo Quimpo, his musical tribute to Journey and his community events.

* We covered Concert Beyond Expectations, Canada Tour 2012 featuring Multi Award winning The Voice Jed Madela on February 4, 2012 at the River Rock Show Theatre with Janice Lozano, Jojo Quimpo, Dynamix Band and other special guests. We aired the concert’s interviews and highlights on Simply the Best on March 19, 2012.

* We even supplied our full band which included Luisa performing her impersonation of Tina Turner for Pinoy Fiesta 2011. We also once again featured the Pinoy Fiesta highlights and Jojo Quimpo’s interview on Simply The Best tv show.

NOTE: Yes, the same impersonation that Roque Juatco Jr. later made disparaging remarks about in Jojo’s Facebook thread “Hypocrisy annoys me, people need to look into mirrors.”. Luisa supported, promoted and participated in their Hirit event and then Jojo allows Roque Juatco Jr.’s attacks against her later. That is HYPOCRITICAL, Mr. Juatco Jr..

* Despite my horrific experience as a sound supplier and technician in 2011 Pinoy Fiesta which I will explain later on, Luisa and I still helped the Marinduque Association of BC’s Moriones Festival float in cooperation of our main sponsor Lake City Studio, Can Am Importique in their participation on the cultural parade in 2012. Once again, we feature this main highlight of the parade and uplifted the Pinoy Fiesta on our tv show.

This is when my relationship with Jojo Quimpo started to deteriorate.

I was hired to supply and operate the sound system for Pinoy Fiesta 2011 throughout the day. I had a horrific experience because of the way Janice Lozano and Jojo Quimpo organized the event and I wrote all my concerns down as soon as it was over. Pretty well all of my communication about entertainment was with Janice Lozano prior to the event. I wanted a meeting at some time to put forward my evaluation so they won’t have the same problems in the future. Unfortunately, it never happened.

The following year which was the Pinoy Fiesta 2012, I was told there were similar issues and people asked about my experience during Pinoy Fiesta 2011. Also, I read a message by Francisco Jojo Quimpo that the Hirit Team welcomed suggestions and concerns so I sent Jojo Quimpo a professional email stating my thoughts in regards to my experience at the Pinoy Fiesta 2011 and directly asked him some questions.

I emailed Jojo Quimpo my assessment on Pinoy Fiesta 2011 and instead of responding properly to this subject he changed the topic part way through his response “IN MY OPINION” to throw out some accusations of things he thought we were doing against Janice Lozano and Roque Juatco Jr. and the Juatco family. I was talking about issues I had with Pinoy Fiesta not about Janice Lozano, Roque Juatco Jr. or their family.

After this, Jojo and myself emailed back and forth many more times. The discussions were going nowhere. The rest of these long pointless emails can be shared publicly by Jojo should he so desire.

Continuation of the Facebook issue with Jojo Quimpo’s cyberbullying thread “Hypocrisy annoys me, people need to look into mirrors.”

Since Jojo unfriended me, I could not respond on his Facebook wall. So instead, I sent a follow up private Facebook message to anyone who was tagged, liked or commented on his “Hypocrisy annoys me, people need to look into mirrors” post.

NOTE: I did not know about Jojo’s other FB response or message to others until this August 2013. Mr. Quimpo responded by sending out his own response to people all over the community. This concerned me since I found some of the things Jojo stated in this message very disturbing. It is time to put my opinion and facts out there.

I will comment directly on what Jojo Quimpo wrote in this latest Facebook message.

1. Jojo Quimpo stated “It was brought to my attention that Steve Marshall was circulating FB messages against me…”

My Comment – What I did was to address anyone that was on the HYPOCRISY Facebook wall post that liked, commented or was tagged by Jojo because I had no opportunity to respond to this post since Jojo unfriended me. I also sent this to some important leaders whom we knew in the community that heard about this attack. Jojo Quimpo is worried about us responding to his “Hypocrisy annoys me…” thread after he started a thread tagging 26 people on cyberbullying my wife? What does he think we should do? Keep quiet and hide from him?

2. Jojo Quimpo stated “Please read my general response to Steve’s malicious attack…”

My Comment – My wife appears to be the main person that was attacked on his Facebook wall and now he wants the reader to believe it is he that is being attacked? How delusional and hypocritical is that?

3. Jojo Quimpo stated “Hey FB friends, thank you for relaying to me your concerns about receiving FB message from Steve Marshall last Ash Wednesday”

My Comment – Jojo made reference to me answering his email on a certain date and tried to make it sound like I was doing that on purpose. I’m not Catholic so I have no idea what religious date he is referring to. Jojo Quimpo and some members of his group frequently appears to use religion to try to gain sympathy.

4. Jojo Quimpo stated “…This is not the first time that Steve Marshall was involved in this kind of controversy with Filipino artist and personality. He was a major player in the controversy involving the TV show, Pinoy Buzz, its host Janice Lozano and producer Roq Juatco….”

My Comment – Mr. Quimpo wants to bring this issue up again. Since he did, I will comment on it once again and put all the information online so everyone can view it and decide for themselves who started these issues. The issue Jojo mentioned was regarding Janice Lozano and Roque Juatco Jr. of Pinoy Buzz. This goes back a few years ago when Cecille Cabrera made a lot of unpleasant comments on Janice’s Facebook wall post about my wife and our TV show. Just like Jojo Quimpo did with his “Hypocrisy annoys me…” Facebook post, Janice Lozano allowed and left these disparaging comments on her Facebook wall. A concerned member in the community told us about it so I commented on Janice’s wall to show the real facts. Looking back I realized that this also was a cyberbullying attack against Luisa. Why is it, that back then, Mr. Quimpo, you were embarrassed about this posting and now you make it sound like I was the “major player”? What a convenient HYPOCRITICAL change of view. Jojo, if you read this again you will remember that all I did was state the real facts to show that Cecille Cabrera was incorrect in her assumptions against us. The reality is this issue was started on Janice’s wall by Cecille Cabrera and continued on by Millet Ramiscal, both friends of Janice Lozano. I jumped in to defend my wife and our business with my facts.

5. Jojo Quimpo stated “Steve was also involved in the public embarrassing spectacle here in Facebook involving our respected OPM music icon, Ms. Joey Albert who is now based here in Canada…”

My Comment – Now Jojo Quimpo wants to drag up the long ago Facebook/email issue between Joey Albert and myself, which interesting enough is very similar to the one with Janice Lozano and Mr. Quimpo himself. What Mr. Quimpo has wrong here is this issue with Joey Albert was mainly an email communication between myself and Joey Albert. It was started by Joey Albert by posting a remark on my wife’s public wall questioning our TV shows subject. Luisa responded professionally asked Joey Albert to private message or email her back. That is all that was on Facebook as far as I remember.

Mr. Quimpo, you neglected to mention that (just like Janice Lozano) the “public embarrassing” Joey Albert Facebook spectacle as you call it was actually started by Joey Albert herself. Also, don’t forget that Joey Albert was the one who made it public on email and not me.

After Joey had her tv show “The Joey Albert Show” on air for a very short while, she made a comment on Luisa’s public Facebook wall for all to see questioning the content of our TV show and in my opinion insinuating we were copying her. That became a major email exchange which Joey Albert started but could not finish. She could not answer any questions, dispute any of my facts and not put forward or back up any statements of her own. I emailed her directly in a professional non personal letter asking for an explanation and she answered by cc’ing a lot of people. If you’re interested in another long read this entire communication is on the link below between myself and Joey Albert. So you can see Joey Albert already has an issue with Luisa from the past. 6. Jojo Quimpo stated “Since Steve decided to make our private communication into a public spectacle by sending FB messages to you and other innocent people who has no idea about this matter, he has given me no other choice but to defend myself publicly to clear my name. Contrary to Steve’s malicious accusation that I made our private communication public that’s a big lie. He knew that I keep our communication confidential because we discussed about it in our previous email exchanges. And for him to publicly claim otherwise is very disturbing.”

My Comment – This has to do with the initial private email exchange between myself and Jojo Quimpo. A private conversation between two people means that only the original two people are communicating. Once either party includes any other person or persons it is not private anymore. It becomes more like public because neither party has any way to control what the 3rd party is going to do with the information. Jojo admittedly stated he shared our emails to his Hirt Team. This contradicts what Jojo said above.

At that time his Hirit family was very large, appearing to me to be in the 100’s. In my view, this is considered going public. There is no way Jojo can control what all these people would do with our emails and information. One of Jojo’s Hirit family informed me about our exchange and the fact that he showed them what we were talking about. In my opinion, private is just me and him and public is when a private conversation is told to others.
