Who’s really busted?

A response to Reyfort Media Group’s (PNT) Rey Fortaleza’s Philippine Asian News Today article “Busted: Bomba News”

Initially, we were very upset that Rey Fortaleza included Luisa Marshall in his BUSTED BOMBA NEWS Article. However, once intelligent people actually read the article, many realized that Rey’s personal issues had nothing to do with Luisa despite Rey’s claims.  In our opinion, this whole thing actually ended up backfiring on Rey Fortaleza and his Reyfort Media Group in a negative way.

What really concerned us was the way it turned into a vicious unwarranted attack group that came together for their own selfish reasons to attack Luisa Marshall.  That is the real story here.

Rey Fortaleza from Reyfort Media Group (PNT) made allegations in his July 18/2014 Philippine Asian News Today newspaper titled BUSTED: “BOMBA NEWS” which appears in part (because of the title and front page picture) to attempt to implicate Luisa Marshall in his one-sided, self-serving front page news that turned out to be more about his own personal issues with Amado Lugtu (fellow competing Newspaper Editor) and his own exposé of his failed RFTV & Events business venture with Christian Cunanan.

BUSTED: “BOMBA NEWS” was put online, in print (distributed all over the lower mainland) and included on Rey and Araceli’s public Facebook walls where they allowed attacks against Luisa Marshall from their supporters.  Even though this article did not have anything to do with Luisa Marshall, Araceli Fortaleza approved and allowed an anonymous writer named Konsensyang Pinoy (who is hiding his/her name) to attack and Cyber Bully Luisa personally.

When Araceli and Rey’s supporters attacked Steve and Luisa, their comments were left online, but when Steve commented back to defend Luisa, Rey and Araceli would remove Steve’s comment or block him from commenting if the response didn’t suit themselves. Eventually, Araceli and Rey Fortaleza completely blocked Steve from their Facebook walls so he could not comment further but Araceli still allowed others to continue commenting after the fact.

Upon reading Rey Fortaleza’s newspaper article BUSTED: “Bomba News” it was really puzzling as to what it was really about.     

It appears Rey is convinced that Bert Morelos and Amado Lugtu were talking about him and his failed business dealings with Christian Cunanan. If that’s the case, why would that be a big deal as most people, including Rey, talk about other people’s issues. Now, if the discussion was untrue, named names and was public, it could be an issue, but according to Rey it was true, so what is the problem?

It became apparent, after the fact, that Christian Cunanan reached out to Bert Morelos because he has already lost (according to Amado Lugtu) about $70,000.00 of his own money investments in the RFTV & Events. Rey did not dispute that amount. It was reported that Rey Fortaleza wanted Christian Cunanan to invest even more money into this failing venture. That would put Christian at more risk of his own cash in a business that has been losing money ever since it started a few years ago.

WHAT IS RFTV & EVENTS?

Initially, this was none of our business until Reyfort included Luisa in his Bomba News. Now this partnership has become our business because Rey Fortaleza implicated Luisa in this Bomba News.

Steve Marshall emailed Araceli Fortaleza to clarify details about RFTV & Events to find out if it is under Reyfort Media Group or a totally separate company (registered or not) between Rey Fortaleza and Christian Cunanan.  Araceli emailed back other comments but would not answer his direct questions about this partnership.

From what we can gather, RFTV & Events includes all Reyfort’s TV shows (Joey Albert Show (CANCELLED), Everiathing, the Big Shift and Balitang Vancouver) and an Events division and possibly some online RFTV box thing that is supposed to go Canada wide BUT ONLY if everyone buys or subscribes to these boxes.

According to Rey Fortaleza RFTV & EVENTS lost money.  So if this is a separate company, why is nothing listed online under RFTV & Events company associating itself with these TV Shows? Everything appears to be all connected with Reyfort Media Group and NOT this separate partnership called “RFTV & Events”.  Why does Reyfort Media Group appear to be the main producer when you look online yet the RFTV & Events partnership with Christian Cunanan is the one that loses the money producing the same shows in the background for Reyfort Media Inc.? Why does RFTV & Events not appear on any websites associating itself with all these shows that it lost all this money at?

OUR OPINION ON WHAT BUSTED BOMBA NEWS APPEARS TO BE ABOUT

The only “BOMBA NEWS” that makes any sense is the fact that very few knew that Christian Cunanan invested and lost all this money in Rey Fortaleza’s so called RFTV & Events ventures. Nobody knew that these shows failed to make any money. Rey concluded from reading on Facebook that Bert Morelos knew about this, and worse, according to Bert Morelos, he knew that Rey wanted even more money from Christian Cunanan even though he had already lost an estimated $70,000.00. Christian Cunanan took Bert Morelos’ advice and showed up with a financial adviser to a meeting with Rey Fortaleza where they concluded that the business failed. We think that was a good piece of advice that Christian took from Bert Morelos.

BUSTED BOMBA NEWS appears to be more about Rey Fortaleza’s reaction to these circumstances. The only real difference, it seems, is Rey Fortaleza wanted to be the one breaking the news of the losses in this partnership. As to why Rey decided to include Luisa Marshall in his personal issues and losses does not make sense to us and is still a mystery.

DOES THE REYFORT MEDIA GROUP FOLLOW THE CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF JOURNALIST ETHICS GUIDELINES?  

After the Fortalezas included Luisa Marshall in their newspapers Bomba News and the way they allowed and liked Cyber bullying on their Facebook wall against Luisa, we wanted to know if Reyfort Media Group operates their media consistent with the Canadian Journalist Standards.  In our opinion, Reyfort Media Group FAILED on 25 points. Either Rey or Araceli had never seen these standards before or they had ignored them. (Read more about how Reyfort Media Group does not appear to follow Canadian Journalist Ethics Standards.)

Rey and Araceli Fortaleza, Joey Albert and Mitzi D. Echaque liked the Konsensyang Pinoy Facebook post which attacked Luisa. There is no reason at all to include this in this BOMBA NEWS issue except for personal attacks. Simply the Best TV Show and Luisa Marshall did not get busted for anything. Luisa Marshall did not attack anyone. Luisa did not get exposed for anything. We think it is unconscionable and shameful that these 4 people would like and approve of something like this.

KONSENSYANG PINOY – For the record, Steve emailed Reyfort Media Group to ask if they knew who this Konsensyang Pinoy is.  They did not confirm or deny if they knew him or her.

It was very disappointing to see people that actually liked, supported, commented or shared anything untrue and libelous that this nameless coward did against Luisa Marshall.

• Most disappointing was that Rey and Araceli Fortaleza allowed this to happen on their Facebook walls even though this is a direct contravention of the Canadian Association of Journalists Ethics Guidelines as quoted “We do not allow anonymous sources to take cheap shots at individuals or organizations”.
• The Ethics Guidelines are inclusive of someone like Reyfort Media Group owners posting their own news on their personal public Facebook walls.  See Ethical practice does not change with the medium. We are bound by the above principles no matter where our stories are published or broadcast.

Not only did Araceli Fortaleza allow this despicable behaviour on her public Facebook wall against Luisa, but she allowed many more postings long after the BUSTED, BOMBA NEWS issue and Araceli “liked” many of Konsensyang Pinoy posts.

We find it hypocritical that Araceli Fortaleza allowed Cyber Bullying from an unnamed coward against Luisa on her Facebook wall at one point then quotes Bible Gospel verses sometime before and after on the same wall.  We can hardly believe this sort of conduct from an owner of the largest distributed Filipino Newspaper in BC.

NOTABLE PEOPLE WHO GOT INVOLVED IN ARACELI’S FACEBOOK BOMBA NEWS.

If one reads the entire Rey Fortaleza Busted: Bomba News article, it is clear Luisa Marshall has nothing to do with Rey’s issues.  But that did not stop the irrelevant cyber bullying attacks on Rey and Araceli Fortaleza’s public Facebook posts aimed mainly at Luisa.

Not surprising, some of the likers, commenters, supporters or attacks came from the usual people that they’ve already had past issues with. Some of these people decided this was the perfect time to join together and support cheap shots at Luisa one way or another. Here is the most notable people that did get involved in some way: Joey Albert (former host of the short lived and CANCELLED The Joey Albert Show),  Bodeng Juatco (Philippine Asian Chronicle), Jojo Quimpo (Pinoy Buzz TV – Executive Producer), Mary Ann Quimpo Carcia (Sister of Jojo Quimpo), Romeo Gabriola Torres (Supporter of Pinoy Buzz and Jojo Quimpo), Gigi Grey-Ricarse (The Big Shift TV show COMING SOON), and even Salve Dayao (Friends of Ed and Salve at Java Jazz TV Show, COMING SOON Produced by Reyfort)

It’s very convenient for this group of former, present and future TV competitors (most of which did not have any use for each other in the past) to put their issues aside to come together and support Rey Fortaleza in what appears in our opinion an alleged attempt to implicate Luisa Marshall in Rey’s personal issues with Amado Lugtu and Christian Cunanan.

It is absurd that they did this together as if Luisa was busted for something. They either can’t read or didn’t care to look closely at this article before coming to the wrong conclusion and then trying to expose something without any evidence. If they did read the article they would have realized Luisa had nothing to do with any of these issues.

Reyfort & Supporters: from attacks and issues to buddy buddies

Joey Albert & the Juatco Family
Joey Albert had a private lunch with Luisa Marshall in 2009.  At that time Luisa was very new to the Filipino Community in the lower mainland. Joey told her directly that the main people to stay away from in the Filipino community is the Juatco’s. #1 was Erlinda Juatco. Now Joey Albert is best buddies with the Juatco’s, especially Janice Lozano.

Jojo Quimpo & Rey Fortaleza
Jojo Quimpo and Rey Fortaleza at one time had big issues with each other.  Luisa and Steve had a meeting with Jojo Quimpo trying to get him to stop attacking Rey on Facebook and encouraged him that they do an event together. Rey and Jojo Quimpo support each other now that Jojo Quimpo is running for a Federal Conservative MP position (Rey’s chosen party).

Rey Fortaleza & Janice Lozano
Rey Fortaleza and Janice Lozano despised each other at one point and had big issues. Luisa was requested by Rey Fortaleza to attend a large exploratory meeting at the former Isaac & Agatha Deli for hours to go over all the Facebook attacks Janice was alleged to have started against him. Now despite Janice’s many attacks on Rey they are all buddies again.

Salve Dayao & Janice Lozano
Salve Dayao showed Luisa a bounced check in the range of $3,000.00 that she got from Janice Lozano a fews years back. Salve had nothing good to say about Janice Lozano but now they are buddies again.

Joey Albert & Salve Dayao
Joey Albert was annoyed that Luisa was at one time friends with Salve Dayao. Joey stated that Salve is uneducated. When a poster for the 2009 Ondoy Concert was first being put out for the performances at the River Rock fundraiser, editors working on the poster had Joey Albert and Salve Dayao on the poster along with Luisa, Abbacadabra and Riley Inge. Joey Albert wanted her picture removed so she would not be seen or featured alongside Salve Dayao.

In our opinion, most of these people are either connected or have a vested interest in hoping Steve and Luisa will fail.

• Salve Dayao is hoping Reyfort Media Group will follow through and finally produce a show for her called AN EVENING WITH ED AND SALVE.
• Joey Albert is also hoping Reyfort will reproduce a TV show for her again in the future.
• And the last show to join the list of Reyforts COMING SOON’S is Gigi Grey-Ricarse with The Big Shift.
• Janice Lozano, Roque Juatco Jr and Jojo Quimpo are involved with Pinoy Buzz. They all would benefit if the longest running still on air most consistent local Vancouver Filipino based TV show SIMPLY THE BEST, The Luisa Marshall Show goes off air.

As of September 2014, Steve and Luisa are on their 6th year and getting stronger regardless of petty crab mentality attacks.

It is important to note that Luisa has supported all of them or their TV shows in the past but most of them turned on her one by one then grouped together against her. There is a history with some of this group turning on Luisa when it suited themselves. 

A PATTERN AMONG SOME OF THE NOTABLE PARTICIPANTS ON ARACELI’S FACEBOOK WALL

• After Steve and Luisa gave their airtime to Pinoy Buzz and even helped them tape their first episode, Janice Lozano allowed attacks against Luisa’s character on her Facebook. When Steve Marshall challenged the statements made, Janice had no more to say on her Facebook.
• Then a couple of years later, after Luisa featured and interviewed Joey Albert and even her daughters on Simply the Best TV Show, Joey Albert got her own tv show and she also started issues on Facebook against Luisa. Steve Marshall challenged her to show any evidence of what she said but then she had nothing to say. Joey blocked Steve on Facebook.
• Then Jojo Quimpo allowed Cyber Bullying on his Facebook wall and Steve challenged him and he blocked Steve from responding.
• Now Rey and Araceli Fortaleza wrote the ridiculous Busted Bomba News article and further allowed a nameless coward to Cyberbully Luisa on Araceli’s Facebook wall. Rey and Araceli Fortaleza also blocked Steve.

These people have some things in common. They like to attack but when challenged and can’t respond, they blocked Steve then continue talking amongst their supporters. Unbelievably, they still have mindless followers that don’t see the reality in these issues. This is why we have decided to finally make a stand through this site Driven2Action.com.

STEVE & LUISA’S STAND

Bottom line, throughout all these issues, Steve and Luisa Marshall are consistent where they stand. They do not change sides and positions whenever it suits them.  They will not change because people attempt to vilify, bully or attack them.

Some people are angry and annoyed because Steve and Luisa are:

• Standing by alleged victims of scams and bullying in the community. Steve and Luisa support and help them and let them know what they can do.
• Supporting awareness of the scams and wrong doings to prevent future victims.
• Not sitting on the fence hoping to gain something from everyone. They make it very clear that they will not tolerate bad behaviour and they will not support people that abuse others.
• Questioning the operation of newspapers in the Filipino community if they don’t serve the public the way they are supposed to.
• Questioning fundraising procedures and ask tough questions to track the money from the fundraiser to the benefactor. For example their work on their page on Luisa’s Website regarding Philippine Typhoon Haiyan (aka Yolanda).

If our stand causes people to leave us and group together to attack us, we are totally fine with that. This clarifies the type of people we would rather not associate with.

Eventually, anyone that attacks us will understand that no matter what they do to us, our principles and stance will not waiver. We will not be swayed by bullying or attacks by anyone.
